Abstract
We report a bulky mesoporous TiO 2 structure fabricated by direct consolidation of mesoporous TiO 2 powder. The mesoporous TiO 2 powder with an interparticular porosity, which synthesized by a surfactant-mediated sol-gel method, was consolidated by spark plasma sintering at 350-600 °C. A mesoporous structure in the sintered body was revealed by N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, and the maximum surface area of ∼131 m 2 g -1 was obtained with a porosity of ∼44%. Linear grain growth of the primary TiO 2 particle size was observed in the bulky mesoporous structure, and the effects of open pores on the grain growth kinetics were discussed.
