N2 - The increasing use of equipment management information systems has greatly simplified the construction equipment management for large contractors. Recent developments in data mining techniques make it possible to embed data mining functions into the current information technology (IT) environment to serve as knowledge discovery and decision support modules with a significantly reduced development cycle. This paper proposes a general framework for the building of knowledge-driven applications for construction equipment management with integrated data mining. The research is expected to enrich and enhance the current decision support system for construction equipment management through data mining based knowledge acquisition and utilization.
