Abstract

We synthesized a novel fluorescent receptor based upon a benzimidazole moiety in a dipodal framework. The receptor exhibited a dual fluorescence emission which is quenched upon addition of Cu2+ or Fe3+. Interestingly, the receptor offers a ratiometric property and an 'OR' logic gate property to Cu2+ and Fe3+.
