Abstract
Ankle fractures are some of the most common lower extremity injuries. In treating these fractures, emphasis has been placed on strict adherence to the principles of anatomical restoration of the ankle joint and mortise with rigid fi xation and early movement in order to achieve improved functional outcomes [ 2, 11, 31 ].
