Abstract

We investigate a nanowire-based localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) biosensor using an effective medium theory. The results suggest that a simple effective medium based on the far-field properties of a nanowire-mediated LSPR biosensor can approximate near-field characteristics reasonably well unless strong LSPR is involved.
