Abstract

In this paper, we propose and analyze a wavelength conversion using an cross-gain modulation (XGM) with two semiconductor optical amplifiers and CW-holding beam for improvement of wavelength conversion speed and frequency chirp characteristics. Wavelength conversion characteristics of the cascaded XGM with a CW-holding beam are investigated in time domain. From the simulation, we have observed that the proposed scheme provides a non-inverted efficient wavelength conversion and frequency chirp reduction at higher bit rate operation.
