Abstract
This paper develops and describes a material handling selection expert system called MAHSES. MAHSES is a hierarchical object-oriented expert system, and is composed of two modules. Module I includes the selection of material handling alternatives as well as storage systems for electronics assembly. Module II addresses the selection of design, assembly flow and layout The selection procedures in MAHSES and a sample consultation are also presented.
