Abstract

We report variable optical attenuation characteristics based on adiabatically tapered index guiding holey fiber. The adiabatically tapered IGHF is axially compressed. It has an operating range of 18-dB dynamic range over a wide spectral range of 200 nm and insertion loss of 8dB.
