Abstract

This paper proposes operational shock analysis method considering disk and ramp contact for 2.5 inch stamped HDD. The stamped base is exposed easily to the external shock. The external shock causes the contact between disk and ramp. Hence, the shock simulation model was constructed with nonlinear contact model. And, nonlinear ABS spring was created by engaging shock simulation and slider dynamic analysis. From the shock simulation, the vertical force and moment were calculated. The extracted force and moment from transient shock analysis was applied to slider dynamic simulation as a input shock. The slider dynamic simulation contained the squeeze effect term to obtain more accurate slier behavior.
