N2 - In sensor networks, acoustic source localization systems sometimes fail to accurately detect simultaneously produced multiple acoustic sources using acoustic sensors. One of the existing algorithms can detect multiple sources, but does not localize the sources when they are generated within one hop distance (±30m) and spread among all nodes. To overcome this limitation, we propose the LMSL (Low-complexity Multiple Simultaneous Acoustic Source Localization) algorithm, which provides high accuracy on localizing multiple sources within one hop range using only common sensor nodes. LMSL takes advantage of lower computational complexity and provides enhanced accuracy. Feasibility tests on Telosb sensor motes show that LMSL can detect up to four simultaneous produced sources.
