Abstract

This paper analyzes the impact of PHEVs (Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) on the distribution power system. By varying the proportion of the PHEVs to the entire system while taking the potential load increase into account, we investigate the impact of PHEVs on the entire energy consumption. As a case study, we have selected a new town in Korea and analyzed several different scenarios. The analysis shows a considerable load increase with the increase of PHEVs. Therefore it is recommended to add one or two additional distribution lines to supply the future PHEV load.
