Abstract

In this paper, 5 GHz band LTCC antenna for WMAN (Wireless Metropolitan Area Network) applications is proposed. This antenna employs modified U slot shape. The simulated return loss characteristics of the proposed antenna show the bandwidth (110 MHz for VSWR < 2), while the measured return loss of the antenna reveals the bandwidth of 180 MHz, which is wider than the predicted one (100 MHz) at the center frequency due to various loss mechanisms. Also, the proposed antenna has good unidirectional radiation pattern and its gain is calculated to be +7.2 dBi.
