Abstract

In this study, 1g shaking table tests were performed with a superstructure supported group pile to investigate the dynamic response of soil-structure interaction with rigid base and deep foundation. The super and sub structure were modeled as a 1/25 scaled 6-story steel-framed building, 2x2 group pile with the end bearing pile, fixed and hinge pile head condition, and embedded in dense SP soil. An experimental program had sweep tests performed to assess the natural period of the structure with different foundation conditions, and the dynamic behavior of the earthquake in Korea was analyzed using the sinusoidal wave. The test results showed that the natural period was longer in the case of pile-supported structures than structure without pile, and it was found that the pile head hinge condition have a longer natural period. The lateral displacement also showed that the hinge condition was larger, and the largest lateral displacement occurred at the frequency near the natural period.
